In the early 1980’s, Curtis Walker, founder of GDC Total Business Solutions, had an eye-opening experience while working in the automotive industry in Michigan. His organizations send him to Japan to study Lean Operations to better understand how the principles could be utilized to streamline manufacturing processes in their facilities.
After learning from the experts, Mr. Walker brought the knowledge he gained back to his organization. Utilizing the principles of Lean Manufacturing, Mr. Walker quickly elevated himself in the companies he worked for. His passion for process improvement and drive for continuously looking to grow profitability for the areas he was leading, eventually secured him a COO position in two Fortune 500 companies.
He started to realize he had a unique business development and operational skill set that was not industry or position specific. After he started seeing a decline of manufacturing in the United States, he decided he needed to help more than just one company at a time!
